Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
